Truth is ACTUALLY Important?

When learning philosophy, we get to tackle a lot of topics which are somehow interesting. However, the topic that really caught my attention and made me think really hard was about truth. Before going deep and understanding the topic, I first had to know what its definition was. At first, I froze for a while because I didn't really know what it was. There could’ve been many possible answers depending on the situation. However, when you think about it and try connecting it to scenarios, truth could actually be reality. Now, why does it even matter in our lives?
Truth is the reality of things in life. With truth, we get to know what is actually there or what actually is. Even if sometimes we may not technically see it, truth affects our perspective and our view on something. What I am trying to say is that knowing the truth could change how we used to see things or the people around us. To further explain this, imagine yourself being best friends with a person. After years of being friends, you suddenly get to know the truth that your friend has been backstabbing you the whole time. However, when you guys are together, nothing seems to be wrong and you are always having fun with him/her. Knowing the truth that he/she has been backstabbing you would change how you see that person and how you feel towards him/her. This would probably make you sad, but this would help you see how that person actually feels about you. Yes, not knowing the truth would just keep you happy without any problems. However, you will be living in a world where everything you see and feel is actually fake. If you ask me, I would still want to know the truth even if it could make me sad because everyone can move on with time. What is the use of living in a world where you are very happy, but everything or most of it is not even true? The people around you may even laugh at you for being happy in a place where everything you believe to be true is actually fake. Would that even be a life worth living?
Since truth affects how we see things or a person, it must also drive our lives. Our choices, actions, and what happens next depend on the truth. For example, imagine a little girl believing she could fly and is thinking of jumping off a five-story building leading to an inevitable death. Not knowing the truth could increase the chances of her actually doing it. However, knowing the truth would surely decrease the chances of her jumping and make her think twice before doing it. This idea could also be seen in the example I stated earlier where your best friend has been backstabbing you all this time. Knowing the truth could change your actions towards him/her or even toward the world because I probably would. You would probably become distant from that person and not talk to him/her which affects the friendship and your future. In addition, this could also affect your future, for knowing the truth could help you create better friends next time and not trust anyone that easily. Yes, this may be a bit hard to understand, but I hope you get what I am trying to say.
Finally, since truth corrects the way we see things and affects our actions, truth could make our lives or the world a better place. Getting to correct the way we see things would lessen debates or arguments leading to a better and possibly a happier world. Imagine a boy and a girl fighting about an issue. The girl thinks the boy was the one who spread the rumor about her, but he actually didn’t; therefore, causing a huge argument. However, knowing the truth that the boy really did not do it would stop the debate. On the other hand, this could also be implemented in politics or the government to stop the arguments, rallies, or protests happening. With this, the world could be peaceful with less arguments. Interesting right? In general, truth is very good and important that leads to a better world and future; however, sometimes it could hurt us mentally. If there comes a situation where you can choose to know or not know the truth, what would you choose?
