Why do We Even NEED Philosophy?
Hi! Welcome to my second blog. I am a senior high school student who was actually having a hard time with philosophy. I had to search and read a lot of articles just to understand what philosophy is. After researching a lot, I now understand and actually find it interesting and fun to study. Did you know that the law of gravity and all the other theories we know existed because of philosophy? (https://adventuresoflaica.blogspot.com/2020/08/philosophy.html) This is because philosophers and scientists always questioned everything they were curious about. They were hungry to get all the knowledge they could possibly attain in those times. After learning that those theories and laws were created because of philosophy, I realized that philosophy is actually important in this world.
In addition to my statements above, I realize and believe that philosophy is very important especially in my generation. It is especially important for the generation Z because we are the future of not only the society, but also the whole world. We are soon responsible for the world and what it is going to be like. We are also going to be responsible for the new innovations and inventions of the world. With philosophy, all of us could actually make better decisions in life, solve problems better, avoid getting misinformed, attain new knowledge, and make change in the world.
This is because when studying philosophy, we develop our critical thinking. With critical thinking, we get to think before we take actions and form great solutions for our problems. We also get to understand more about what we read which would help us avoid getting misinformed about the topics we read. With not being misinformed and understanding what we read, we do not jump into conclusions and rant to or bash a person. In addition, critical thinking could change how we think which could lead to a better and healthier society.
This generation could innovate ideas and also attain new findings or knowledge that had not been seen or tackled before by other philosophers, with philosophy. On the other hand, I am very sad to say that most of the people in my generation just absorb what is given to them. Most of them do not have the will or want to attain new knowledge. They do not really think critically about most of things which is the foundation of knowledge.

Without thinking critically or trying to understand, we might not be able to offer new inventions or theories for the world. We might not even make change and actually make the world worse. Most of my generation do not usually think hard about the nature of life, reality, the world or anything they actually observe or see. This may be because most are actually lazy and not interested; however, I believe and know that we really need to philosophize because the future now depends on us. Even though some may say that they cannot see its effects now, I am sure that the effects of it will be clearly seen in the future.
